🏡 Homes, Land and Illegal Immigration
The Weekly Digest – 03/17/2024
Spring Break is in full swing in the Sunshine State, and while the city of Miami Beach announced earlier this month that they were breaking up with Spring Break, Governor Ron DeSantis is again leading the nation by cracking down on illegal immigration.
This week the governor signed three bills that continue the state’s efforts to maintain law and order and take proactive measures against illegal aliens who engage in criminal activity. Attorney General Ashley Moody praised the move saying the state cannot stand on the sidelines and watch as the Biden Border Crisis continues to spiral out of control.
Meanwhile, Florida’s CFO, Jimmy Patronis, addressed the elephant in the room in an Op-Ed for Sunshine State Buzz. He says Florida’s difficult property insurance market has taken a toll on everyone, noting that his own property insurance premiums have gone up 50 percent. But as multiple states face a looming insurance crisis, Patronis says Florida has answers.
Speaking of real property, Florida Realtors® President Gia Arvin shares an opportunity she says Floridians have to help protect and defend property rights in an Op-Ed for Sunshine State Buzz. The controversy over the vacation rental and tourism industries could seriously affect Florida residents who rent out their properties for short periods.
Plus, what would you do if you walked out your front door to see a 14-story hotel and parking garage towering over your front lawn?
