Sylvester Stallone Leaving LA – Florida’s First Lady Sends Welcome

Culture Feb 24, 2024

On Wednesday, film mogul Sylvester Stallone announced he’s moving from California to the Sunshine State. On the season premiere of his reality TV show “The Family Stallone,” the actor told his family he was moving to Florida permanently.

“After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided it’s time to move on and leave the state of California permanently and we’re going to go to Florida,” Stallone told daughters, much to their surprise.

“We already have the place,” Stallone explained. It’s a “done deal.”

“Protecting God-Given Constitutional Rights”

“Welcome to the Free State of Florida!” Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis said on X.

“In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you.”

More than 365,000 people moved to the Sunshine State in 2023, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The state’s growth rate was second in the nation at 1.6 percent, just below South Carolina.

California lost 75,000 residents in 2023, taking second place in the nation as residents fled the high-taxed, poorly governed state. Florida’s second-place ranking for net migration to California’s 50th place was highlighted during the debate last year between Governor Ron DeSantis and California’s Governor Gavin Newsom.

“The first governor to lose population,” DeSantis quipped at the debate. “They actually, at one point, ran out of U-Hauls in the state of California because so many people were leaving.”

“In Florida, we showed that conservative principles work,” DeSantis said. “This country must choose freedom over failure.”

Famous Faces in Florida

Last April, 63-year-old actor Scott Baio also left California for Florida. The retired actor posted a photo with his wife, Renee Baio, at the beach with the caption “Living our best life in Florida.” In May 2023, Baio's post on X about why he left California went viral.

Last October, billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos left Seattle for Florida, buying two homes in Miami’s Billionaire Bunker in Florida. Bezos reportedly paid $79 million for a seven-bedroom, 14-bathroom mansion set on 1.84 acres in Indian Creek Village, according to Bloomberg. Famous neighbors include Ivanka Trump, Tom Brady and Hispanic singer Julio Iglesias.

In 2021, Food Network star Guy Fieri bought a lakefront property in Lake Worth Beach. Fieri paid $3.9 million for the house on secluded Bella Vista Avenue under a limited liability company.
